Moving Forward with Ambisonics

Exciting Updates on Our Supported DAWs

This announcement is only aimed at Ambisonics users, if you work with Stereo, nothing should change in your case.

At Audio Brewers, we’re always striving to stay at the forefront of immersive audio innovation. This means aligning with the latest advancements in the tools you use to create. As the audio world evolves, so do we—and today, we’re sharing some exciting updates about the DAWs we support.

We’ll be focusing our efforts on the latest versions of DaVinci Resolve and Studio One, which means we will be dropping support for DaVinci Resolve 18.5 and Studio One 6. Let us explain why this is an important step forward and how it benefits the creative community.

Why We’re Moving On from DaVinci Resolve 18.5

DaVinci Resolve 19 has introduced native support for ambisonics tracks, marking a significant step forward in immersive audio production. Supporting older versions like 18.5, which lack ambisonics capabilities, no longer aligns with our mission.

By dedicating our focus to DaVinci Resolve 19 and beyond, we’re ensuring we can deliver the best possible experience for creators who embrace these advanced tools. This is an exciting opportunity to streamline our workflows and align with the cutting-edge features that help you bring your immersive audio projects to life.

If you work in Stereo, this should not affect you.

Why We’re Dropping Support for Studio One 6

As of version 7, Studio One still doesn’t natively support ambisonics. It’s only through Audio Brewers’ innovative algorithms that ambisonics is made possible within Studio One. This requires an extraordinary amount of testing and development on our end to ensure seamless compatibility.

Supporting two versions of Studio One—versions 6 and 7—adds significant complexity to this process. By focusing solely on Studio One 7, we can dedicate our energy to optimizing and perfecting our tools for this version, allowing you to create immersive audio with the confidence that we’re delivering the best performance possible.

If you work in Stereo, this should not affect you.

What Does This Mean for You?

If you work in Stereo, this should not impact your workflow at all.

If you’re currently using DaVinci Resolve 18.5 or Studio One 6, rest assured that your existing Audio Brewers plugins should continue to work with the versions you have installed. However, as we move forward with updates and new features, we cannot guarantee compatibility with these older versions.

This shift is part of an exciting future where DAWs like DaVinci Resolve and Studio One are evolving to support immersive audio in powerful new ways. While Studio One 7 has yet to introduce native ambisonics, our tools bridge that gap, and focusing on this version ensures we continue delivering an unparalleled ambisonics experience.

Thank you for your support and understanding as we embrace these changes. We’re excited about what lies ahead and look forward to continuing to innovate alongside the incredible advancements in the DAWs you use.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Together, we’re shaping the future of immersive audio.
